In conversation with King Willem-Alexander: Social safety and sexual harassment in higher education

Last week, on 24 April, the government-appointed Commissioner for Sexual Harassment and Transgressive Behaviour, Mariëtte Hamer, organised a meeting with King Willem-Alexander to inform him of the steps being taken to prevent the high incidence of social insecurity in higher education. During this meeting, a diverse group of university representatives were present to share how they are working to improve social safety. Our chair, Benthe van Wanrooij, was present to show how PhD students are often at risk of transgressive behaviour and to discuss what could promote a safe and inclusive working environment for all PhD students. A fruitful discussion with Mariëtte Hamer, the King and all the other participants. Thank you for the invitation!
